If your lecturer give you an assignment to do at home, and that assignment need you to do a lot of reading to find the information and material to your assignment. Is that all information that you read are credible, reliable and relevant to be used for your assignment?
Therefore you need to carefully evaluating the source that you read. There are the tips that might be useful for you to evaluating the source of information from your reading material.
1. First you need to take a carefully look to the website or web address (URL). Take a look at the domain of URL. Is that (.edu, .gov, . org, .net, .com). Try to determine who published the page.
2. Secondly, look at the author of the sources. Is the author is well-known person in particular field of study? Does the author acknowledge other viewpoints and other theories?
3. You also need to look at the date of published. Do not used very old source because the technology or the knowledge maybe have been changed.
4. You may also look at the efficiency of the website or web page. Is that the information are well-organized? means that the information are organized in the table, index and etc. Is the information are quick to access?
5. You can used peer-reviewed journal as your source for the assignment. Peer-reviewed journal is the journal that has been reviewed by people who has the same standing like professor, and they will decide whether that journal are wordy to published or not. Therefore, this peer-reviewed journal are reliable and credible to used as your source for your assignment.
6. You also need to look to the reference of the source. Click on the source of the reference and take a look to the source of the source. Find that whether the source that the author used as the reference are reliable and credible or not.
